Joh was born on December 3rd, 1852 in Tervola, Lappi, Finland.  Joh's father was Rev Karl Framling and his mother was Maria Frederika Laine.  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Framling and Brita Johansdtr Saari. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Zacharias, Axel, Matts, Johan, Brita and Lisa.
