- The Magna Charta Sureties states that Roger is the son of John de Somery and Hawise de Paynell. However Ancestral Roots has John and Hawise as grandparents with a generation "27a" (obviously a later addition to the original numbering for line
55) indicating Ralph de Somery and Margaret Marshal. I believe that Ancestral Roots has the latest and correct information.
