Henryk, known as The Pious, was born in 1191 in Wroclaw, Poland.1   The Pious' father was Prince Henryk (The Bearded) of Silesia, Krakow, and Great Poland I and his mother was Princess Hedwig (The Saint) of Andechs Meran.  His paternal grandparents were Prince Boleslaw (The Tall) of Silesia I and Countess Adelheid of Sulzbach; his maternal grandparents were Duke, Margrave of Istria, Count of Antioch Berthold of Andechs Meran VI and Countess Agnes of Rochlitz. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Boleslaw, Konrad, Zofia, Agnieszka and Gertruda.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 50 on April 9th, 1241 in Wahlstadt, Schlesien, Prussia.1
