Walthe was born in 1036 in Northumberland, England.1 Walthe's father was Earl of Huntingdon and Northumbria Sigurd Biornsson and his mother was Aelflaed of Northumbria. His paternal grandparents were Jarl of Denmark Bjorn Ulfiusson and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Lord of Bamburgh Aeldred and <Unknown>. He was an only child. He died at the age of 49 on May 31st, 1085 in Winchester, England.2 General Notes

Son of Siward, the Danish earl of Northumbria (1041-55), andAelflaed, daughter of Aldred, earl of Northumbria, he receivedan earldom consisting of the shires of Huntingdon, Northampton,Bedford, Rutland, and Cambridge in 1065. He submitted to KingWilliam I the Conqueror in 1067 and, though he joined northernrebels in 1069, was restored to favour and allowed to marryWilliam's niece Judith. Later he was drawn into a rebellionagainst William (1075), for which he was condemned for treasonand executed.
