Adele was born in 1064 in Hainault, Flanders, Belgium.1   Adele's father was Count Robert (The Frisian) of Flanders I and her mother was Gertrude of Saxony.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin of Flanders V and Princess Adelais Capet of France; her maternal grandparents were Bernhard of Saxony II and Margravine Eilika of Schweinfurt. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Etienne, Freskin, Philip, Gertrude and Ogiva. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thierry, Dietrich, Albrecht, Florenz, Peter, Bertha, Adele and Mechtild.  She died at the age of 51 in 1115 in Apulia, Cala, Italy.1
