In June, 1857, he started for Polk county; came  by wagon and was one month and four days on the road. He first settled on Walnut Creek, near the place where Mr. Clegg now resides. He now owns 524 acres of land all under cultivation, and finely improved. It is one of the best farms for raising grain to be found in the township. He married Miss H. W. Wilson, a native of Ross county, Ohio, being the first couple married in the township. They are among the early settlers of the county, and to such as they is the township particularly indebted.
1880 census: Farmer in Walnut, Polk Co., Iowa. 1825 - 1917 Benjamin Reeder BENNETT 92 92 BIOGRAPHY: Farmer of 420 acres in Ashawa, section 16 of Polk County, Iowa.  Besides this he owned a farm of 300 acres, one of the best stock farms in the township. At three years of age moved from Mason county, Kentucky to Parke county, Indiana, where he lived until he moved to Polk County, in the summer of 1847. 
1870&1880 censes: Farmer in Walnut, Polk Co., Iowa with $15,600 real estate and $6,672 personal property in 1870. 1827 - 1885 Pressley Toler BENNETT 58 58 Farmer in Des Moines, section 11of Polk County, Iowa.  As an Infant moved from Mason county to Parke county, Indiana. From there he came to Polk County in the spring of 1848 where he owned 500 acres of land, the most of which is improved, but with some timber. The sad news passed from house to house the first of the week that Mrs. George McCormick, a beloved woman of Red Eye, had passed away late Saturday night.  The McCormick family have been seriously sick for the past several weeks and for some time Mr. and Mrs. McCormick were very low and little hope was entertained for their recovery.  They recovered somewhat and he gained steadily, but Mrs. McCormick did not improve so rapidly.  Her heart was weak and the long siege of sickness left her in a very weak condition.  She had several sinking spells and it was during one of these that she passed away.  The funeral was held at the McCormick home Tuesday morning.  Rev. R. W. Bell preaching the funeral sermon.  Interment was made in the village cemetery, west of town.  A large number from this place and several from Menahga attended the funeral and to sympathize with the bereaved family.  Deceased leaves to mourn her loss a loving but broken hearted husband and two sons, John and Lincoln, of Red Eye, and a married daughter living in Colorado.  The McCormick family came from Des Moines, Iowa about eight years ago and they are one of the most prominent and highly esteemed families in this neighborhood.  Mr. McCormick is at present county commissioner from this part of the county.  1847 - 1938 George Elmer MCCORMICK 90 90 DEATH: from The Sebeka Review RESPECTED AND AGED PIONEER IS CALLEDFUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR GEORGE McCORMICK HERE TUESDAY P. George McCormick, respected resident of this community for thirty-seven years and former county commissioner, passed away at the home of his son, John B. McCormick, in Red Eye township on Saturday, January 22.  His death removes from this neighborhood one of our hardy settlers and a man who served his fellowmen well both in public and private life.  George Elmer McCormick was born in Ohio on October 22, 1847 and passed away on January 22, 1938, thus being 90 years and 3 months of age at the time of his death.  The cause of death was due to complications brought on by old age.  He had been burdened for ten weeks previous to being called from his earthly home.  At the age of eight years he migrated with his parents to Warren county, Iowa.  At the age of 17 he enlisted in the army where he remained in the service until the end of the Civil War, when he returned to Des Moines, Iowa.  On January 22, 1871 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane Nevins of Polk county, Iowa.  To this union were born three children, a son and daughter preceding him in death.  They moved to Kansas where they resided for about a year when they returned to Iowa. They remained there until 1900, when they came to Minnesota, residing on a farmin Red Eye township, near Sebeka, where his wife passed away on February 2, 1908.  Shortly after this he moved to Sebeka where he engaged in the livery business with his sons.  In 1910 he sold this business and bought an implement store which he operated with the aid of his son, Lincoln, for  a few years.  He also served as county commissioner of the 5th district for fourteen years and gave liberally of his time and money for the public good.  On January 5, 1912 he was married to Mrs. Amanda Barden.  He purchased a farm in Red Eye township and moved on same in 1922.  He remained on this farm until death took his second wife in September, 1930.  On October 22, 1930 he went to live with his son, John, on the old farm where he remained until he quietly passed away to his eternal home.  Surviving are one son, John, of Red Eye; one brother, M. B. McCormick, of Hume, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and 6 step children.  Funeral services were held at the Sebeka Memorial Hall on Tuesday. Rev. James Geer, pastor of the M. E.      Mrs. Daisy Johnson, 73, died Saturday morning at the Kansas University medical center hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.  She has lived near Holton for the past 30 years and was a member of the Christian Church of Holton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, with burial in the Holton cemetery.
     She is survived by her husband, Robert Johnson of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Fred Robson and Mrs. Clark Robson of Mayetta; Mrs. Eugene Spooner and Mrs. Clarence Ely of Ottawa; and Mrs. Kermit Mick of Holton; one son, Ross of Holton; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; four brothers, Roy McGuire of Holton; Bert of Grimes, Okla.; Frank of Sayer, Okla. and Marion of Buhl, Idaho; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Mumaw of Onaga and Mrs. Martin Jontra of Gage, Okla.
     Those attending the funeral from Onaga were Mrs. Ida Mumaw, Mrs. Vera Witham, Mrs. Clara Fields, Mr and Mrs A. E. McGuire, Mr and Mrs Chester Wienstroer, Mr and Mrs Leo Ladner, Mr and Mrs Marvin McGuire, and T. B. Weinstroer. 1847 - 1925 Levi MCGUIRE 77 77 DEATH: from the Onaga Herald, Thursday, July 9, 1925: Levi McGuire wasborn November 18, 1847, at Zanesville, Ind., and died at Onaga, Kansas, July 5, 1925.  At the age of sixteen he came with his parents to Kansas and in 1861 they located on a farm at Vienna.  He was married December 25, 1870 at Valley Falls to Miss Nancy Nevins.  To this union were born eleven children, two of whom have preceded him to the home above -- Mark Levi and Ella Viola.  He leaves to mourn his loss four sons and five daughters: Frank of Erick, Okla.; Marion of Buhl, Ida.; Herbert of Grimes, Okla.; Roy of Holton, Kansas.  The daughters are: Mrs. Bell Walker, Mayfield, Okla., Mrs Ida Mumaw, Onaga; Mrs. Daisy Johnson, Mayetta, Kans., Mrs. Martha Jontra, Gage, Okla., Mrs. Susie Weinstroer, Onaga, Kans.  There are also 6 grandchildren. For forty-three years he lived with his family on the farm, and eleven years ago he moved to Onaga, where he has lived until his death.  Mr. McGuire was a loyal member of the Congregational church and until his health failed was always present at the church services and after a term of service as deacon, became deacon emeritus.  By his years of labor on the farm he was numbered among the great group of early settlers who changed the wilderness into a flourishing agricultural community and lived to see and share in the fruits of a region made prosperous by toil.  He always stood for the best things in the community and in 1871 entered into the fellowship of the christian church.  He dearly loved the old songs of the church and his children grew up to call him blessed.  He was devout and cheerful and had many sincere friends to whom he had extended a helping hand.  He was always pleased to listen to the comforting words of the bible and appreciated the prayers and good wishes of his friends.  During the long period of his sickness he was patient and hopeful and his resignation was expressed in his words.  "I am ready to meet my God." The funeral services were held in the Congregational church and interment was at Vienna.

DEATH: Levi McGuire of Onaga, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning at 5 o'clock after a lingering illness with Brights' disease at the age of 77 years and 7 months.  He was born in Zanesville, Ind., Nov. 18, 1848.  He was married to Miss Nancy Nevins of Valley Falls at the age of 23 and died at his home in Onaga.  To this union eleven children were born two having preceded him to the great beyond; Ella Viola and Mark Levi.  He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife and nine children, Frank of Eric, Okla., Bert of Grimes, Okla., Marion of Buhl, Idaho, Roy of Holton, Mrs. Belle Walker of Mayfield, Okla., Mrs. Ida Mumaw of Onaga, Kans., Mrs. Daisy Johnson of Mayetta, Kans., Mrs. Martha Jontra of Gage, Okla., and Miss Susie Wienstroer of Onaga, Kans., 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Bell Heusel of Holton and Mrs. Mattie Whines (sic Whims) of Wichita, Kans.  His last brother, John McGuire of Los Angeles, Calif., died June 8, 1925.  A host of friends who done all that loving hands could do will miss his smiling face.   He was a friend in need, always ready to lend a helping hand.  He was an industrious and prosperous farmer until his health failed him eleven years ago when he sold his farm and located in Onaga.  He was always a kind and loving father.

     I, Levi McGuire of Mill Creek Township, Pottawatomie County Kansas, being of lawful age and of sound mind and memory, do make declare and publish, this my last will and testament.
     First.  It is my will and I hereby direct that my executor, hereinafter named shall as soon after my decease as is advisable, carry out and put into effect the gifts, bequests and other provisions of my will; and I hereby empower him with full authority to execute deeds and all other necessary instruments of conveyance to the same extent and with the same effect as though I were living and acting; and to distribute as herein set out.
     Second.  It is my will that all my just debts, funeral expenses and expense of my last sickness be paid.
     Third.  I give devise and bequeathe to my wife Nancy H. McGuire all of my real estate together with all of my household goods and personal effects and one half of all my other personal property of whatsoever nature of which I may die siezed.
     Fourth.  It is my will that the remaining one half of all my personal property of whatsoever nature not otherwise provided for shall be equally divided and given share and share alike to each of the following heirs, namely; Belle Walker, William F. McGuire, Ida F. Mumaw, Daisy A. Johnson, Herbert E. McGuire, Marion I. McGuire, Martha Jontra, Mattie McGuire, Susie Winstroer and Roy C. McGuire, save and excepted that from the share of Belle Walker, William F. McGuire and Herbert E. McGuire shall be deducted Thirty-five Dollars each and from the share of Marion I. McGuire shall be deducted One Hundred Dollars and the sum of such deductions shall be equally shared with all my heirs.
     Fifth.  And I direct further that should any of my heirs die before my decease, that the share of such deceased heir, shall be equally divided among his living issue.
     Sixth.  I hereby constitute and appoint Clark Mumaw of Onaga Kansas as Executor and request that he be not required to give bond.

Nancy Hannah Nevins was born on December 17, 1851 at Des Moines, Ia., and died August 28, 1938 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clark Mumaw, aged 86 years, 8 months and 11 days.  She was married December 25, 1870 to Levi McGuire at Valley Falls, Kansas.  To this union were born eleven children, one dying in infancy.  One son, Mark, died in 1910, and one daughter, Mrs. George Walker, died in 1938.  The children surviving are as follows: the sons, Frank, Bert, Roy, and Marion; the daughters, Mrs. Ida Mumaw, Mrs. Daisy Johnson, Mrs. Mattie Jontra and Mrs. Susie Weinstroer; also 1 brother, John Nevins, of Valley Falls; 45 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She and her husband were among the early settlers in Vienna township.  He preceded her in death, 13 years ago.  When she was a young woman she was a member of the Christian church and on moving to Onaga, she joined the Congregational church.
"God lent an angel to the earth
She came in lowly guise;
She was not even beautiful
To our unseeing eyes.
She swept, dusted, cooked and darned
For all the heedless throng;
And ever as she worked she hummed
A little tuneless song.
She always had a healing word
For people in distress;
And tho her hands were worn & rough
Their touch was a caress.
At last her hair grew thin and gray,
Her work took over-long
And oftimes we did not hear
That little tuneless song.
God lent his angel to the earth
To ease its frequent strain,
But when he saw how tired she grew

     Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Thos. C. Hinkle at the Congregational church, Monday afternoon.  Burial was in the Vienna cemetery.

JOHNSON
     Robert E. Johnson, 81, Holton, died at his home Saturday.  He was born March 23, 1877, in Penn Yan, N. Y., and lived in Jackson county the past 65 years.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Methodist Church.
     Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Flossie Robson of Mayetta; Mrs. Gladys Spooner and Mrs. Ruth Ely, both of Ottawa; and Mrs. Rheva Mick of Holton; a son, Ross Johnson of Holton, 20 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. May Spangler and Mrs. Nellie Fields, both of Topeka.
     The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mercer Funeral Home Holton, with burial in the Holton Cemetery.

     Mrs. Flossie E. Robson, 61, of Mayetta, died Saturday in a Lawrence hospital.
     She was born May 8, 1898, at Onaga and had lived in the Mayetta community for 40 years.  She was a teacher in the Jackson county schools 20 years.
     She is survived by two daughters Mrs. Caroline Osburn, Topeka, and Mrs. Robert Fine, Lawrence; a son, Loren Robson, Topeka; seven grandchildren; a brother, Ross Johnson, Holton; and three sisters, Mrs. Rheva Mick, Holton; Mrs. Ruth Ely and Mrs. Gladys Spooner, both of Ottawa.
     Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Mayetta Methodist church with burial in Mayetta Cemetery.

     Mrs. Ida Mumaw, 88, passed away last Thursday morning, January 16, at Community Hospital here following many years of invalidism.  She was the daughter of Levi and Nancy McGuire.
     Born August 10, 1876 in Onaga, she lived most of her life in this community.  In later years she had lived with her sons until April 1963, when she moved to Golden Acres Rest Home.  She was a member of the Vienna Congregational Church and the Onaga Congregational Church all of her life and took an active interest in church affairs.  For many years she served as pianist of the Vienna church.
     She was married to Clark A. Mumaw on March 7, 1895.  He preceded her in death on July 4, 1944, as did one son, Ralph, who died at the age of four.
     Survivors include her two sons, Lloyd W. Mumaw of Topeka, and Dr. Otis Mumaw of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Bert McGuire of Granite, Okla.; Marion McGuire of Buhl, Idaho and Roy McGuire of Holton; two grandchildren, Freda Donovan of Wilmington, Del. and Lyle Mumaw of Topeka; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
     Funeral services were held at the Onaga Congregational church on Saturday, January 18 at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Robt E. Williams officiating.  Interment was in the Vienna cemetery near Onaga.

Obituary-Ida Florence Mumaw
     Ida Florence Mumaw was born on August 10, 1876 near Onaga, Kans. and departed this life at 4:30 a.m. January 16, 1964, at the Onaga Community Hospital.  She was the daughter of Levi and Nancy McGuire.
     She was married to Clark A. Mumaw on March 7, 1895.  He preceded her in death on July 4, 1944.  To this union were born three sons; Lloyd W. of Topeka, Ralph S., who died at the age of four, and Dr. Otis J. Mumaw of Kansas City, Mo.  She was a devoted wife and mother.
     Until the last several years of her life, when she was confined to a wheelchair, she was active in church affairs, having been a member of the Vienna Congregational Church and the Onaga Congregational Church all of her life.  In the Vienna church she served as pianist for many years while her father, Levi McGuire, was song leader.
     In spite of being an invalid for the last few years, she retained her keen mind, and maintained her interest in people and events and enjoyed visiting with her many friends until the end.
     In addition to the many floral offerings from relatives and friends, Central Junior High School of Kansas City, Mo., is presenting a memorial to the Kansas City Area Boy Scouts of America in her name.
     In addition to the two living sons, she is survived by three brothers, Bert McGuire of Granite, Okla., Marion McGuire of Buhl, Idaho and Roy McGuire of Holton; two grandchildren, Freda Donovan of Wilmington, Dela., and Lyle Mumaw of Topeka; six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
     Services were held at the Congregational Church in Onaga on Saturday, January 18, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robt. E. Williams officiating.  Interment was in Vienna Cemetery, near Onaga. Pallbearers were Art Teske, Eugene Teske, Delbert Platt, Henry Gilsdorf, Henry Lieb and Lynn Fairbanks. Mrs. Henry Jontra Dies Saturday in Oklahoma
     Mrs. Henry Jontra, 77, former Onaga resident, passed away Saturday night in a Shattuck, Okla. hospital.  A resident of Gage, Okla., she had been in ill health for several years.
     Following funeral services at Gage on Monday, the body was brought to Onaga and services were held here Wednesday at 2:00 p. m. at Tessendorf Chapel.  Burial was in Onaga cemetery.
     Survivors include the widower, Henry Jontra, of the home; a sister, Mrs . Ida Mumaw of Onaga; a twin brother, Marion McGuire of Buhl, Idaho and two other brothers, Roy McGuire of Holton and Herbert McGuire of Granite , Okla., and several nieces and nephews.

OBITUARY
     Martha Lenora McGuire, daughter of Levi and Nancy McGuire, was born May 5, 1883, near Onaga, Kansas. She was one of eleven children. She departed this life November 12, 1960 at the Shattuck hospital at the age of 77 years, 6 months, 7 days.
     She grew to young womanhood and was married to Henry A. Jontra, February 14, 1906, at Westmoreland, Kansas. The young couple established a home and live in Kansas for five years. Then they moved to a farm near Gage where they resided eleven years before moving to Gage to establish a home.
     To this happy union four little sons were born, but they remained only a short time to gladden the home.
     Quite early in life she gave her life to Christ and became a member of the Christian church. In 1956 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The large number of friends and relatives that gathered to wish they well attested to the fact that Mattie, as she was lovingly called, and Henry were always friends indeed to others in sickness or sorrow or times of need.
     She was preceded in death by her four sons, her father and mother, four sisters and two brothers. She was a devoted wife and her last concerns were for her husband who survives her. She also leaves to mourn her passing her twin brother, Marion McGuire of Buhl, Idaho; Bert McGuire of Granite, Okla.; Roy McGuire of Holton, Ks.; one sister, Mrs. Ida Mumaw of Onaga, Kans.; a large number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and a multitude of friends.
     Loving hands did every possible thing that could be done but her heavenly father saw fit to call her home. There will be a vacancy that never can be filled, but her life was indeed a blessing to those who knew her.
     Memorial services were held Monday, November 14, 1960 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the First Christian church of Gage with John Ihle, the minister, officiating. Interment was in Onaga, Kansas, beside her four little sons. Memorial services were also held at Onaga at Tessendorf Chapel on November 15.
     Pallbearers were Dorman and Harold McGuire, Henry Lieb, Nate Carl, Carl Lewis and Charles Ladner. 1883 - 1977 Marion Isaac MCGUIRE 93 93 DEATH: BUHL -- Marion I. McGuire, 93, died Saturday afternoon at a Buhlnursing home after a short illness.
     He was born May 5, 1883, in Onaga, Kan., and married Grace Greenwood in 1901.  She died Sept. 16, 1952.
     Mr. McGuire moved to Idaho with his family in 1918.  He lived in the Deep Creek area near Buhl where he farmed until his retirement in 1957. He was an actice member of the Deep Creek Grange where he served as master.  He was a charter member of the Pomona Grange.
     He also belonged to the United Methodist Church.
     Survivors include one son, D.A. McGuire, Twin Falls, one daughter, Mrs. J.E. (Marcetis) Rash, Vancouver, Wash., several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

DEATH OF SUSIE WIENSTROER
     The community was saddened early yesterday morning to learn of the untimely death of Mrs. Susie Wienstroer, at the Onaga hospital.  She had been suffering painfully for several weeks, and had been ill health for a good many months.  She was 59 years of age.
     Susie was a friend of the whole community, where she spent her entire life.  She was one of The Hearld's oldest correspondents, and even when her health was failing fast she continued to send her column, in which she took great pride and which was read by everyone.
     Susie's fame as a cook reached far and wide, and a few years ago, upon the insistence of friends, she compiled a list of her favorite recipes and published them in book form.  Her genial and sunny disposition will be sadly missed by everyone, and her husband and three children and their families, who survived her, have the sympathy of all. An obituary will be published in next week's issue.
     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock on Friday afternoon at the Congregational Church with Rev. Earl Caryl, of the First Baptist Church, officiating at the service.

OBITUARY
     Susie Pearl McGuire, daughter of Nancy Nevin and Levi McGuire, was born December 5, 1891 and passed from this world after a lingering illness at the Onaga hospital, August 8, 1951.  She was born in Vienna township and lived her entire life in this community.
     On May 23, 1912 she was united in marriage to T. B. Wienstroer.  To this union three children were born. She is survived by her husband and three children, Lawrence Galen of Saginaw, Mich.; Chester August and Fern Marie of Onaga; two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mattie Jontra, Gage, Oklahoma, Daisy Johnson, Holton, and Ida Mumaw, Onaga; four brothers, Marion of Boise, Ida., Herbert of Granite, Okla, Frank of Mayfield, Okla; and Roy of Holton; one uncle, John Nevins of Valley Falls; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
     Susie was a friend of all and will be especially remembered for her Santa Claus.  During the winter of 1948 she compiled a cook book of her own favorite recipes.  This book has been sold in 28 states.  She was a member of the Congregational church and was active in the Ladies Guild. One of her main pleasures in life was her grandchildren.
     Susie never met a stranger and she will always be remembered by her many friends for her cheerful smile and happy attitude.  She was a member of the Mutual Benefit Club for 27 years.
     Her life was an inspiration to many, with patience, kindness and hard work.  She met each trial of life trusting in Jesus.  She took an active interest in lives of her family until the last.  Her last thoughts were the little things she wanted to give and do for her friends.
     Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Congregational church, in charge of Rev. Earl Caryl. The pallbearers were Paul Hartwick, Henry Lieb, Lynn Fairbanks, Jack Winters, Wm. Falk, and Dorman McGuire.  Burial was in the Onaga cemetery.

OBITUARY
     Funeral services for Mr. Roy McGuire, 78, of Holton were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at the First United Methodist church at Holton. Burial was at Onaga cemetery. Mr. McGuire, a former Onagan, died Sunday in a Wamego hospital where he was admitted September 26, after having been a previous patient at Community Hospital here. He had a heart attack.
     He was born December 10, 1893 at Onaga and lived in Holton the past 45 years. He was employed by the City of Holton for many years. he was a member of the First United Methodist church and the Golden Age Club, both at Holton. He was an honorary member of the Holton Fire Department.
     He was preceded in death in 1963 by his wife, the former Minnie Franklin. Survivors include a son, Donald McGuire of Wamego; a brother, Marion McGuire of Buhl, Idaho and a niece and nephew, Mrs. Leo Ladner and Chester Wienstroer both of Onaga.

     Marcus L. McGuire was born June 5, 1885 and died December 30, 1910, aged 25 years, 6 months, and 22 days.
     Deceased was a son of Mr and Mrs Levi McGuire of Vienna township, and was born and raised in this locality.  He has been sick of heart trouble for five years and died suddenly at the home of his wife's parents, Mr and Mrs W. A. Stone, at Alanreed, Texas, of hemorrhage of the heart.  He spent a ...... part of last summer with his parents here and returned to Alanreed, Texas, on October 22 last, in the hopes of restoring his health, and for a time was much improved.  Only a few weeks ago his parents received word that he was in better health and was gaining in flesh, and the news of his death was a shock to his parents and the community as well.
     He was married to Miss Theodosha Stone of Alanreed, Texas, on the 30th of May last.

Death of Clark Mumaw
     C. A. Mumaw passed away at his home Tuesday afternoon.  He had been seriously ill for several weeks.  Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Congregational church.

     Clark A. Mumaw, son of Jonas B. and Susan D. Mumaw, was born near Onaga, Kansas, January 3, 1872 and departed this life July 4th 1944 at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 1 day.
On March 7, 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida McGuire.  To this union three sons were born. He is is survived by his wife and two sons, Lloyd W. of Onaga and Otis J. of Parsons, Kansas.  The other son, Ralph, preceded him in death.  Also surviving are three grandchildren; one brother, D. J. Mumaw of Holton; one sister, Miss Luella Mumaw, of Topeka; several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
When a young man he joined the Congregational church at Vienna, where he was an active member.  He later moved his membership to the Congregational church in Onaga.  He was a member of the official board of this church for a number of years.  He was the kind of man that a minister likes to have as an official member.
     His sincerity and devotions were beyond the questioning of any.  All respected him because he was what he was, unassuming, devoted to all tha the considered right and worthy.  He believed in God and he believed in the coming of the Kingdom of God, and he bent his energies to the achievement of all good things.  His going is a loss to the entire community and all sympathize with the bereaved family and friends in their loss.  His absence from among us will be noted by all of us.  His illness has extended over a number of years, and his death, while not unexpected, will leave the entire community poorer.
     Funeral services were held at the Onaga Congregational church on Thursday afternoon, in charge of Rev. W. A. Lower.  Interment was in the Vienna cemetery. 1896 - 1975 Lloyd Wallace MUMAW 78 78 DEATH: from The Onaga Herald, Thursday, July 31, 1975
Lloyd W. Mumaw, 78, of Topeka, died July 29 at the Veterans Hospital in Topeka where he had been a patient since Sunday.  He was born October 4, 1896 at Onaga and farmed in the Onaga area until he moved to Topeka in 1956.  Mr. Mumaw was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Congregational church at Onaga.  He was married to Mary Genevieve Henderson in 1920. She preceded him in death November 30, 1972. Also preceding him in death was a son, Clair, who died January 18, 1945.  Survivors include a son, Lyle Mumaw of Belvue; a daughter, Mrs. Freda Donovan of Wilmington, Dela; a brother, Otis J. Mumaw of Kansas City, Mo., and six grandchildren.  Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Tessendorf Mortuary Chapel with interment at the Onaga cemetery.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's hospitals. 1890 - 1981 Ella Mable WALKER 91 91 DEATH:      TWIN FALLS -- Ella Mabel Pinegar, 91, of Twin Falls, diedSunday afternoon in Hazeldel Manor after a long illness.
     She was born Jan. 10, 1890, at Onaga, Kan.  She moved to Filer in 1918, where she lived until moving to Twin Falls in 1941.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Twin Falls.
     She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Velma Clark of Twin Falls; a brother, H.G. Walker of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five sisters, Ruby Coffey of Elk City, Okla., Florence White of Sayre, Okla., Esther Bradley and Hazel Parker, both of Yuba City, Calif., and Ethel Defries of Borger, Texas; two grandchildren, Robert Clark and Barbara Rawson, both of Twin Falls; and three great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and two daughters.
     Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. John A.      Reverend Harold Grant, age 101, born July 2, 1895 in Onaga, Ks. to George Grant and Sara Isabelle (McGuire) Walker.  He was married in 1916 to Jessie Lois Bonine.  They had 9 children.  Harold was ordained with First Church of God, Anderson In., in Chanute, Ks. around 1928.  He was minister at Yates Center, Rose, Oil Glen, Burt, Independence, Weinfield and Lexington, Ks. and Waynoka and Lookout, Ok.  He retired in 1955 and moved to Oklahoma City where he became a member of Shartel Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie, on Oct. 16, 1983; son, Robert Lloyd and wife Leona; and daughter-in-law Ada Walker.  He is survived by 5 daughters, Lavera and Bill Corbin, LeRoy, Ks., Marge and Walt Rosengrant, Kingston, Ok., Janie and Dee Paxton, Lake Eufaula, Ok., Lila and S.J.
