He was living in Elizabeth City in 1624. On 11 May 1635 he obtained a patent for 450 acres of land, which he afterwards assigned to Richard Bennett. Robert Newman undoubterdly married and left, with other children, two sons, William and Robert. William made his home in York County and had a son named John.
