Hugh was born in 1030 in Grentemesnil, Calvados, Normandy, France.1 Hugh's father was Robert de Grentmesnil and his mother was Hawise d'Eschafour. His paternal grandparents were Gervase le Breton and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Seigneur d'Echafour Giroie le Goz and Gisela Bertrand de Montfort. He had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, Arnold and Adeliza. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 62 on February 22nd, 1092 in Leicester Castle, Leicestershire, England.1 Death Notes
