Martha S. was born on October 15th, 1855 in Rockingham Co, NC.1   Martha S.'s father was James Dutch Roberts and her mother was Nancy Jane Sneed.  Her paternal grandparents were James Roberts and Susannah Thomas. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Adolphus Douglas, James William, Sarah Lou, Susie, Caroline Matilda, Catherine Eliza, Mary Lee and Cornelia Sophia 'Nealy'.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children. She had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Robert, James W., John Willie, Robert Monroe 'Monk', Martha, Minnie and Mattie Ivie.  She died  due to Cirrhosis of Liver at the age of 68 on March 28th, 1924 in Mayo Twp, Rockingham Co, NC.  She was buried on March 29th, 1924 in Roberts Family Cemetery, Stoneville, Rockingham Co, NC.1
