Ira Alex was born on November 7th, 1911 in Rockingham Co, NC. Ira Alex's father was Stephen T. Roberts and his mother was Ella L. Parks. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mike Roberts and Martha Jane Bailey. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Earl, Stephen Kerus, Gertrude L., Blanche E., Mollie L., Posie, Katherine and Adell M..
