James Franklin PAYTON 
James Franklin was born on April 8th, 1825 in Mason Co., Kentucky.1 James Franklin's father was Anthony PAYTON and his mother was Margaret WALLINGFORD. His maternal grandparents were Mark WALLINGFORD and Mary WHALEY. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William, Mark Wallingford, Thomas, George Washington, Laureny Douglas, John L., Harvey H., Julina, Mary Wallingford, Louisa D. and Sarah E.. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 68 on May 8th, 1893 in Parkville, Parke Co., Indiana. He was buried in Mt. BIOGRAPHY: Greene Biographies on Parke County Website: Farmer, Parkville,a pioneer of Green Township; at the age of two and a half years came to Parke County with his parents. Mr. Payton and his wife are members of the Predestinarian Baptist church, at Mt. Moriah of which he is one of the present deacons. Their parents held to the same faith. He never held any public offices. He is a member of the democratic party. He began life poor, and by his industry has made himself the owner of 115 acres of good land, which he has in good cultivation, and well stocked.
