G. H. was born on December 16th, 1943 in Rockingham Co, NC. G. H.'s father was G. H. Fulcher and his mother was Mae Carter Hampton. His maternal grandparents were William Walter Hampton and Lizzie May Carter. He had a brother named William Michael 'Mike'. He was the older of the two children.
