James M was born on April 11th, 1824 in Mocksville, Davie Co., NC, US.1 James M's father was Isaac Hillery Foster and his mother was Harriet Bevill. His paternal grandparents were Zenas G. Foster and Dinah Taylor. He had two brothers named Wiley S and Thomas Martin. He was the oldest of the three children. He had four half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Isaac B, Shadrach Shadric M., Calvin, Samuel T, Louisa, Mary A, Nancy Jane, Lydia D and Camilla. He died at the age of 65 on February 13th, 1890 in Linden, Montgomery Co., IN, US. He was buried in 1890 in New Richmond Cemetery,Mongomery Co , Ind.-
