Her paternal grandparents were Duke Guillaume I (Longue Epaee) Normandy and Sprote Adela de Senlis; her maternal grandparents were King of Haithabu Ragnald Swenosson and Duchess Gerletta of Normandy. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Geoffroy, William, Sprota, Fredesende, Hawise and Pappia. She was the third youngest of the seven children.
