Curtis James was born on October 20th, 1930 in Person Co, NC. Curtis James' father was Mellie Harvey Clayton and his mother was Ethel May Wilson. His paternal grandparents were George Washington Clayton and Freddie Harriet Rhew; his maternal grandparents were William Samuel Wilson and Nanny Florence Painter. He was an only child. He died at the age of 42 on June 26th, 1973 in Salem, Salem City, VA. He was buried in Person Memorial Cemetery, Person Co, NC.General Notes
