Mary Ellen CLEMENT 
Mary Ellen was born on July 23rd, 1875 in TX.1 Mary Ellen's father was William CLEMENT and her mother was Etheldra THOMPSON. Her paternal grandparents were William Wesley CLEMENT and Elizabeth SKAGGS. She had five brothers and a sister, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named Robert Ernest, Thomas Levi, William Marian, Richard Riley, Charlie Monroe, Lillie Virena, Unnamed Infant and Unnamed Infant. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 18 on September 24th, 1893 in Vineyard, Jack Co. TX. She was buried in Wizard Wells Cemetery, 9 miles east of Jacksboro, Jack Co. Mary Ellen was the third born child of William and Etheldra Clement.
She is listed on the 1880 Wise Co. TX Census with her parents and two brothers, R.E. (Robert) age 9, and T. L. (Levi) age 7, both born inAR. Mary Ellen is listed as M.E. , age 4, daughter, born in TX.
Sometime before 1887 the family moved to Vinyard, Jack Co. TX. While living there, Mary Ellen married George Swetnam 8 Dec 1892.
The following year on September 1,1893, she gave birth to her only child, Jesse William Swetnam. She died 3 weeks later from complications of the birth.
She is buried in Wizard Wells Cemetery beside her two siblings, infant twins of her parents who died at birth when Mary Ellen was about10 years old.
In Etheldra's Bible, she spelled her daughter's name "Merrie Elen".
