Captain Charles H. BROWNING Sr. 
Charles H. was born on August 20th, 1746 in Culpeper Co., VA.. Charles H.'s father was Frank (Frank) III and his mother was Frances Eman Norman. His maternal grandparents were Isaac Norman and Frances C. Courtney. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named William Lloyd, Shadrach, James, James, John, Reuben, Isaac Norman, Francis, Sarah Frances, Betsey and Mollie. He died at the age of 93 in 1839 in Rappahannock Co., VA.. He was buried in Greenfield, Rappahannock Co., VA..General Notes
Captain, 2nd Reg., Virginia, Revolutionary War. Was at Valley Forge. Served as Captain in Col. Alexander Spotwood's Regiment, VA. line.

June 13, 1769 - Gift deed of marriage - John Strother and his wife to son-in-law Charles Browning & his wife, Mary, our daughter, 236 acres on Forks of Rush River, Bromfield Parish. This became "Greenfield", the home of Willis Browning, son of Charles, and later fell to John Armistead Browning, son of Willis.
