William's baptism took place on November 23rd, 1758 in Cawthorne by Barnsley.1  William's father was George Senior (Taylor) and his mother was Rachel Naylor (of Cawthorne).  His paternal grandparents were George Senior (Hoylandswaine) and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were William Nailor and Mary. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Timothy, Isaac, JOHN, Ebenezer, Zacharias, Mary, Sophia and Jennet.
