Sarah was born in 1840 and her baptism took place on July 12th, 1840 in Petworth.1 2  Sarah's father was George Steer and her mother was Charlotte Lucas.  Her maternal grandparents were Lucas and Sarah. She had two brothers and four sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named George, James, Emily, Charlotte, Fanny, Catherine and Ellen.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1841 in Petworth.  Her burial was on September 5th, 1841 in Petworth.3 4
