Robert was born in 1876 in Llanfwrog, Denbighshire.1  Robert's father was John Steer and his mother was Ellen White. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Edwin, Alice, Elizabeth and Emma.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
