Lois was born in 1878 in Croydon Surrey.1  Lois' father was Reuben Steer and her mother was Anna Horn.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Steer and Ann Mariner. She had two sisters named Ethel and Eunice.  She was the oldest of the three children.
