Fanny was born in 1899 in West Chiltington.1  Fanny's father was Albert Steer and her mother was Edith.  Her paternal grandparents were George Steer and Charlotte. She had three brothers and four sisters, named George, William, Christopher, Charlotte, Alice, Edith and Catherine.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
