Elizabeth was born in 1875 in Macclesfield, Cheshire.1  Elizabeth's father was Robert Steer and her mother was Jane.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Steer and Jane Smith. She had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Mary and Edith.  She was the youngest of the four children.
