Edith was born in 1895 in West Chiltington.1  Edith's father was Albert Steer and her mother was Edith.  Her paternal grandparents were George Steer and Charlotte. She had three brothers and four sisters, named George, William, Christopher, Charlotte, Alice, Catherine and Fanny.  She was the sixth oldest of the eight children.
