Annie was born in 1860 in Rudgwick, Sussex and her baptism took place there on November 4th, 1860.1 2  Annie's father was Thomas Steere and her mother was Elizabeth Holland. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, Ellen, Kate and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
