Annie was born in 1847 in Petworth.1  Annie's father was James Steer and her mother was Sarah.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Steer and Sarah steer. She had a brother and three sisters, named George, Ellen, Emily and Emma.  She was the youngest of the five children.
