Alice was born in 1864 and her baptism took place on August 13th, 1864 in Rudgwick, Sussex.1  Alice's father was George Steer and her mother was Miriam Dinale.  Her paternal grandparents were John Steer and Eliza steer. She had five brothers and five sisters, named George, William, Walter, Edward, Mark, Eliza, Miriam, Rhoda, Kate and Ellen.  She was the seventh oldest of the eleven children.
