Emma was born in 1831.1  Emma's father was George Meachin and her mother was Eliza Steer.  Her maternal grandfather is John Steer and her maternal grandmother was Mary Standage. She had three sisters named Mary, Jane and Eliza.  She was the oldest of the four children.
