James' baptism took place on July 28th, 1723 in North Bradley.1  James' father was Walter Wilkins and his mother was Anne Butcher.  His maternal grandfather was John Butcher and his maternal grandmother is Marrian Rundell. He had two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender named Sarah, Ann and Wilkins. He had four foster brothers named John, Walter, William and Thomas.
