Charles was born on January 2nd, 1829 in Armley and his baptism took place there on February 14th, 1829.1 2  Charles' father was John Wild and his mother was Hannah Dodgson. He had six brothers and three sisters, named John, William, James, Samuel, George, Frederick, Anne, Eliza and Hannah.  He was the second youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 54 in 1883.

Charles and Jane were married in a religious ceremony on May 27th, 1850 in St John's Church, Leeds by Oswald L Chambers Lecturer & Curate and witnessed by Mathew Henry Richardson & Joseph Gilbirt.4  They had four sons and three daughters, named John, Charles, Samuel, Frederic, Margaret, Jane and Clara.
