Charles' baptism took place on March 20th, 1825 in Petworth, Sussex.1  Charles' father was George Whitcomb and his mother was Charlotte Warden.  His maternal grandparents were Wm Warden and Mary Spooner. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George, James, William, Mary, Charlotte and Ann.
