Charles was born in 1841 and his baptism took place on January 2nd, 1842 in Forncett St Peter.1  Charles' father was Thomas Webb and his mother was Emily Friston.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Webb and Sarah Spurling; his maternal grandparents were William Friston and <Unknown>. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Edward, Sarah and Emily.  He was the oldest of the five children.
