Joseph was born in 1782 and his baptism took place on September 22nd, 1782 in St Matthew`s Church, Hayfield.1  Joseph's father was George Turner and his mother was Mary Bradbury.  His paternal grandparents were Edward Turner and Leah. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Edward, William, Hannah and Mary.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
