Emily was born in 1841 in Uxbridge.1   Emily's father was Thomas Kedge and her mother was Elizabeth Barnett.  Her paternal grandparents were Anthony Kedge and MARY HARRIS. She had a brother and three sisters, named George, Elisabeth, Mary and Elizabeth.  She was the third oldest of the five children. She had four half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Thomas, Anthony, William, Isaac, Mary, Hannah, Eliza, Sarah and Louisa.
