Elizabeth's father was William Hunt and her mother was Edith Purtin.  Her maternal grandparents were John Purton and Elizabeth Vaughan (of Bredon). She had a brother and five sisters, named William, Mary, Emily, Louisa, Louisa and Fanny.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.
