Jane was born before 1734 and her baptism took place on November 5th, 1734 in Methwold.1  Jane's father was John Flatt and her mother was Elizabeth Peache.  Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Flatt (of Methwold) and Elizabeth. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the three children.
