Johane was born in 1587 and her baptism took place on March 17th, 1587 in North Nibley, Gloucester.1  Johane's father was Robert Darney and her mother was Elinor (Elene Eline Helene) Durswell. She had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Elisabethe, Marie and Catherine.  She was the second oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Arthur, Sarah and Rebecca.
