    William Kirton of Southwark, who married firstly Margery 
    Milborne, and secondly Anne Frebody or Freebody, and thirdly a woman  named Agnes. It remains unclear if William thus obtained a moiety of  the Manor of Thorpe Mandeville, since Anne was co-heir to the estate  with her sister Alice.  William died in 1466, and I have William's  will and he does not mention Thorpe Mandeville Manor at all.  It was  William's grandson, Stephen Kirton, who was the Alderman of the ity 
    of London and in 1531 did a deal with Alice's husband to purchase the  Manor of Thorpe Mandeville, while respecting Alice's right to the  property for her life time. In the event both Alice and her husband  and Stephen all died during 1553, with the result that Stephen never  obtained possession during his lifetime. The Manor was thus inherited  by his son Thomas, then aged 16, the lawyer and future Common  Serjeant of the City of London, who died in 1601, and whose beautiful  memorial still exists in the tiny Thorpe Mandeville Church.

    1443-53; Pardoned for being out with Cade, July, 1450, by Oct. 1451
    King's Sgt. at Arms; married 1st. an heiress; Margery Milborne, who bore a son: John(3), circa 1440. Margery died & William remarried Anne Freebody , coheiress of Thorpe Mandeville manor, Northants., but she soon died, and William married thirdly a woman named Agnes, who
    raised his children after William died in 1465-6. Will written 19 Aug.,1464, proved 22 Nov. 1466. (I have his will)
