Valentine 1774 KIRTON Saint Anne

• General Notes
  • The Valentine Kerton or Kirtons in London are, I suspect, all the same person who died in Surrey in 1800. I think it very likely indeed  that he is the Valentine Kerton (#00995) baptized at Chippenham 11 Feb., 1749,  who married firstly Jane Peall at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster, 4 Feb., 1771, with whom he had two sons, consecutively, both named Valentine, the first one born 28 Oct., 1771, & baptized at Saint Anne Soho, Westminster, which evidently soon died; and a second, with the same name, born 19 Dec., 1774, baptized also at Saint Anne on 8 Jan., 1775, who also soon died.
    
    
    With Jane Peall, Valentine also had a daughter, Elizabeth, born about 1776, but some time later his wife, Jane must have died,
    
    because we find Valentine being re-married to a woman named Ann Tristam, at St.
    James, Westminster, on 29 Aug., 1785.
    His will, (GSO 155914):- Valentine Kirton otherwise Kerton, plumber and glazier, written at Battersea, Surrey, dated 21 Oct., 1797, mentions his wife Ann, and his daughter Elizabeth, by  1797 named as Elizabeth Evans,  and his grandchildren, Henry Valentine Evans and Anne Evans. Clearly for his daughter Elizabeth to have two children
    by 1797, she had to have been born several years before Valentine married Ann Tristram.  (I did an IGI search for the grand children without result.) His will was proved in Surrey on 12 July, 1800 by the executors.
