Harvey (1980), p.59:- "Sayer's Farm, situated at the end of a long track south of the High Street (nowChapel Lane) is believed to have been owned originally by WILLIAM SAYER in 1491......., and during the 16th. Century was owned by the KIRTON family. In 1696, JOSHUA WHITE, fish-monger of London, and husband of WILLIAM KIRTON's sister, JUDITH KIRTON (who had evidently inherited the farm), sold the farm..............."
