Walter de KIRKETON Swineshead

  • I believe that  after Walter de Kirketon of Screveton, co. Notts. and Biddenham, co. Beds. died s.p. somewhere about 1342-50, his two  sisters were his co-heirs; the elder sister, whose given name I have  never discovered, inherited Kirketon Hall at Screveton, which she  brought to her marriage to John de Stockton (ref.: Thoroton).  Walter's younger sister, Grace(1) de Kirketon inherited some, but not all, of the lands which  Walter had originally bought from William Boteler of Biddenham  sometime before his death, so when Grace(1) was married to William  Boteler's son, Thomas Boteler of Biddenham, Grace brought to her  marriage her share of those lands.
