Joseph was born in 1785.  Joseph's father was Thomas KERTON and his mother was Susanna (Shusannah) Padfield .  His paternal grandparents were James KERTON and Betty KERTON. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas and Catherine.  He was the youngest of the three children.
