  • BENJAMIN KERTON  was born 29 December 1859 in Hillington Road, Rhymney, Wales.  He married MARGARET JONES 7 April 1884 in Merthyr Registry Office.  She was born 7 April 1863 in Merthyr Tydfil.

    On the 1881 census Benjamin is shown as living with his mother Fann at Beula Chapel House in Rhymney.  He also appears on the same census as Benjamin KENTON - with he and his father Job lodging at 89 Plantation Street, Bedwelty.

    Notes for THOMAS DAVID KERTON:
    Whilst sitting on a railway platform on her way to the local market a young girl asked Margaret to hold her baby for her.  The woman never returned.  She was traced to a travelling drama group and was found to be unable to support her baby, Tommy, who was raised by Margaret as her own.

    Hetty-married a Major Toothill, I think had 6 children.
    Fanny & Margaret (twins)-I have been corresponding by letter with Fanny's daughter Margaret Mainwaring Richards (nee Malson).
    George-no children.
    Alice - 3 children.
