    23.  ALICE WINIFRED4 KERTON (WILLIAM3, ROBERT2, JAMES1 KIRTON) was born 2 April 1874 in Baynton's Buildings, Bedminster, Somerset, and died 21 January 1963 in Crana Private Hospital, Herston, Australia.  She married ALBERT GEORGE GODSMARK 9 September 1891 in Brisbane.  He was born 19 November 1865 in Rawland's Castle, Hampshire, and died 12 March 1940.
    
    Notes for ALICE WINIFRED KERTON:
    Alice was the only child that remained with her father.  She was cared for by relatives and taken to the farms where her father was working.

    Marriage Notes for ALICE KERTON and ALBERT GODSMARK:
    
    After Alice's first three children died disillusionment set in and the couple planned to return to England.  Alice went first and stayed with Albert's mother who was running a laundry business.  Alice must have unknowingly been pregnant with her fourth child as their first surviving daughter was born in England.
    England was not as enchanting as Alice imagined, she didn't like the rain, so she returned to Brisbane and the couple went on to have six more children.
