William was born in 1870.  William's father was William abt 1837 HICKSON and his mother was Elizabeth Dale.  His paternal grandparents were John HICKSON and Elizabeth Jackson. He had three brothers named Samuel, James and Walter.  He was the third oldest of the four children.
