Jane was born in 1897.  Jane's father was James HICKSON and her mother was Mary Gough.  Her paternal grandparents were William abt 1837 HICKSON and Elizabeth Dale; her maternal grandparents were Thomas GOFF and Jane Shaw. She had five brothers named James, Cyril, John, Thomas and George.  She was the oldest of the six children.
