Nicolaas, known as Claas, was born before January 1741 and his baptism took place on January 14th, 1742 in Stellenbosch.1   Claas' father was Claus Clauzen and his mother is <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had a sister named Anna Margaretha.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died on January 1st, 1819 in Langetouw, Herbertsdale.1
