Erika Pretorius
The van Helsland surname is very interesting. Francois Renier Duminy 1747-1811 arrived in Cape Town. He had a daughter Jean Francoise 1779 -1850 and she got married to Charles van Helsland (Captain of Danish vessel Forsoget) from Throurout (Torhout) in Vlaandere died 5/1827. Apparently he was quite a formidable gentleman and so the surname became a name in the Duminy family. FR 2nd son Benjamin Jacob Willem *10/6/1793 - 5/11/1862 married Catharina Maria Stadler 30/6/1796 in the Lutheran Church on 9/6/1816. MOOC 7/1/264.44. 7 Children.
