Christiaan, known as Chris, was born on September 2nd, 1891 in Lydenburg.1   Chris' father was Jacobus (Koos) Petrus Johannes Winterbach and his mother was Christina Willemina Hougaard.  His paternal grandparents were Dirk Jacobus Winterbach and Hester Francina Elizabetha Verster. He had a brother and two sisters, named Dirk, Anna and Hester.  He was the third oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 86 on June 21st, 1978 in Lydenburg.  He was buried in Lydenburg.1 1
