Adela was born in 1862 in Zagreb.  Adela's father was Johann Janko Potz and her mother was Ana Karlić.  Her paternal grandparents were Johann Janko Potz and Stanka (Potz); her maternal grandparents were Paulus Karlić and Helena Stanić. She had five sisters named Mariči, Franja, Hana, Anka and Kristina.  She was the fifth oldest of the six children. She had a half-sister named Emilija.  She died at the age of 80 in 1942.
